Even before Trump, our government was no longer working the way we learned in high school. Power shifted to the Presidency during the Depression and the Cold War. Congress became dysfunctional, crippled by. chaos politics and hyper-partisan warfare.
Gaping new economic inequalities destroyed the widely shared prosperity of 50 years ago, and drove a poisonous wedge into our society. We became Two Americas – The working middle class stuck in a rut, while the fortunes of the 1% were soaring.
